A COMPLETE GUIDE TO STYLING YOUR BODY TYPE

“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a
gal will find herself a little a lost. And when that happens,
I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda,
buckle up and just keep going.”

– Carrie Bradshaw.

So you see all these women wearing outfits that are flattering (at least on them)  and you wonder how can I change my dressing and adapt to the style sense of these women and not end up looking like a fashion disaster!

Whether you are a young woman still trying to figure out your own personal style, or have just started shopping for yourself and are no longer on daddy’s pocket money and mum’s (or your older sister’s advice),
or are a shy girl who has been living in a smaller town and has just moved to the city maybe for a job or your new college, take a deep breath you are not alone & we are here to help you figure this out!

Well, the thumb rule to this is (of course first thing carry yourself confidently no matter what you’re wearing) to know your body type and dress according to that. This way you will never end up with a bad outfit because you know what suits you and what doesn’t.

This article will guide you exactly how to do that and with every detail so after completing this you have all the ground rules set.

WHAT IS A BODY TYPE-

A body type is the bone structure and frame of your body that is determined by a lot of factors like genetics, exercise, lifestyle, etc. yet it has nothing to do with your weight, but it’s distribution. You can be a particular body type at any weight.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO DRESS ACCORDING TO YOUR BODY TYPE-

Many times you love a top or a dress (or any outfit for that matter) which you just can’t get out of your head only because it is that flattering on the mannequin or the model wearing it. So you try that on and as soon as you look at yourself wearing it, it’s rather disappointing. This is simply because it does not compliment your body type, but this doesn’t mean nothing will. You just have to dig in a little more and do your research before you step out to shop and as I said earlier, this way you will never have a bad outfit, it’ll just fluctuate between casual, dressy and jaw-dropping!

HOW TO KNOW YOUR BODY TYPE-

The best way to do this is by measuring your shoulder, bust, waist, and hips. Remember your natural waistline is just below your ribs (the narrowest part). Use a measuring tape, prefer a cloth one over metallic tapes because they sit well on your body. Make sure you wearing only your undergarments because otherwise, the values may vary from what they actually are.

There is nothing to worry about if you don’t fall into any of these because most women are a combination and call it too cliché but loving your body as it is, is the most important and beautiful thing! You can’t completely transform your body shape unless for surgery, so you might as well love it and feel admirable inside out irrespective of what type it is.

STYLING YOUR TYPE-

The basic point to remember is that you have to even out the look and make it more proportionate.

APPLE

You have a wider waist and you just have to do all that makes your waist look slimmer to balance out the body shape.

c

PEAR

Since you have wider hips, and narrow shoulders, even it out by going for fitted bottom wear and baggy tops that add volume to your upper body.

HOURGLASS

You are the most proportionate body type. You know it when you are an hourglass and so do others because almost everything looks flattering on you and there is nothing that makes you look less good.

If you have no extra fat accumulated, opt for more fitting clothes unless you want to kill the look because then you can always go for baggy tops and loose bottoms

RECTANGLE

With this, you have a basic guide on how to go ahead with styling your clothing. Once you’re set on this, you can slowly start experimenting with bold outfits and bright colors(only if you want to) but trying new things is always good because you never know what you’re missing out on.

Lastly, there is one important thing to remember, that every body is unique and beautiful in it’s own way. Embracing yourself is much more important than any single point in this article and is undoubtedly your only way to slay in confidence!

Much Love ❤️
